Your assignment

• The Inspector Trainee will learn all aspects of the Level I - NDT Inspector job through a combination of on the job training, self-guided study, and class room training. This job is intended to be a temporary position that a person will hold until they have sufficiently proven themselves to be fully capable of independently performing the duties required of an FINKL STEEL - CHICAGO, Level I - NDT Inspector.
• The Inspector Trainee shall assist with the handling and set-up of test parts. This means assisting the Helper if there is a Helper working in the test area. If there is not a Helper in the test area then the Inspector shall set-up the test pieces for inspection by themselves with the use of an overhead crane, forklift, or other handling equipment.
• The Inspector Trainee shall obtain, within a reasonable amount of time, the necessary knowledge, skills, training and work experience to become an FINKL STEEL - CHICAGO Level I - NDT Inspector in accordance with the requirements described FINKL STEEL - CHICAGO specification 0410.09 "Written Practice for NDT Personnel Qualification and Certification".
• Learning all aspects of the FINKL STEEL - CHICAGO non-destructive inspection process (including but not limited to hardness, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle inspection) at the skill level required to work independently as a Level I - NDT Inspector.
• Keeping work area and test equipment in good working order by monitoring its condition on a daily basis and performing basic preventative maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, charging batteries, etc.
• Accurately recording test results on the ‘Daily Inspection Report', and entering them into the computer system.
• Attending class room training and examinations as required.
• Passing all examinations (written, practical, and physical) required to attain Level I - NDT Inspector certification.

Your background

High School Diploma or be able to prove equivalent skill level via a G.E.D. or other similar diploma or aptitude testing.

Fluent in English, oral & written

Any other language is a plus
Capable of learning and following the procedures for the inspections techniques and duties in which they are being trained.

Capable of passing visual examination for visual acuity and color differentiation.

Capable of working both independently and in a team.

Must be organized, have good basic math skill, good analytical skills, and be very conscientious of details.

Must be healthy, capable of being on their feet for long periods of time and have strength to handle the various pieces of testing equipment

Need to have excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
